Lowering Stage Volume

16 Dec

This has nothing to do with the size of a stage. Rather it is about the sound level or volume of sound on a stage. Watched a webinar by Aviom that had to do with ways to lower the volume levels on stage, and the effects that has on the overall sound experience.

This was all about IEM or In Ear Monitors. Most professional musicians have moved to IEM, but many still like their floor monitors. Many good points in the presentation, like

  • Reduced "aliasing" of voices
  • Easier mixing from Front Of House
  • Prevents hearing loss
  • Eliminates "volume wars"

In the event you would like to see the webinar, Aviom has put it on their archive, and you can watch "Lowering Stage Volume"
