He’s Back

Wonder how many comedians in A.D. 33 (or thereabouts) ran around yelling “He’s Back”? Especially in the face of Roman soldiers who had participated in the arrest, conviction and crucifixion of “that man”. Probably the greatest surprise in history – a dead man who did not stay dead. Of course, there were those who tried to explain it as trickery or some great illusion, but it cannot be explained away. It has to be taken at face value. The “Man” was dead, but is not any longer. He did what he said he would do, even though people did not believe Him.

Interesting that it did not make any difference whether people believed that Jesus was the Christ…that He said he would rise in three days…that the tomb could not keep Him. Whether they believed it or not, it happened. Even today, what you believe or feel does not change the fact that a perfect man died and rose again to make you and me perfect.

Missed a Few

Need to get back in the groove… Got this from a newsletter that Howard Putnam sends out (he used to be CEO of Southwest Airlines). He has an amazing story about how Southwest got to be so fantastic. He says they hire people with “the attitude”, and teach them to do their job. Made all the difference in the world, because it’s hard to teach (or train) people to have “the attitude”. Anyhow, he said this week, “Shining stars are superior to meteorites that crash and burn.” Think about it…how many meteorites do you know by name? How many stars?

Nuff said.

Change My Heart

Those words are the beginning of a praise song that was ringing in my heart. It continues “Oh God”. Try as we might, we don’t have the strength to change some things in our lives. It’s like the harder we try, the worse things get. Letting go is a hard thing to do. We need to trust Him to change us so that we don’t get all puffed up and think that “we did it”.

If what we do is for Him, then we ought to let Him make the decisions and get things in place for us. After all, we may think we know something, but we don’t know everything. Trusting Him puts us in the position of depending on someone else – not an easy to give up human trait. I just want to let Him keep making all the changes He knows have to be made.
