Bright Sunshiny Day

Beautiful clouds in the sky after the rain. Just the kind of day photographers look for to capture a brilliant sunset. Will keep watching before driving down to Point Richmond or the Berkeley Marina to capture that picture. Definitely won’t drive to San Fran and Ocean Beach (today anyhow!). Do remember many years ago, seeing the perfect sky while driving from the mid west back to California. The problem was, that as I drove, the clouds were now to the east of me, ending the perfect sky. They do say that getting the perfect photo is a matter of being in the right place at the right time (like, that was before “PhotoShop”). Hope that happens today…if not, there will be other days.

Still trying to get used to being retired, and it’s hard going back to bed in the morning (have to let Otis the dog out). Most mornings, that’s too much waking up, and just can’t get back to sleep. Getting better though…do get a few mornings with extra winks. Almost like wasting the time God gave me – get something done!

1 Peter 4 kind of ends with a strange verse that is connected to Proverbs. Verse 18 compares how hard it will be for righteous people (check out the word) to be saved and then says based on that, how much more difficult it will be for someone who rejects- Christ. But…verse 19 says that regardless of what happens, God is faithful to His promise to do what he said. Flat out reminds me of 2 Tim 2:13 – “He cannot deny Himself.”

More Done

That’s not a comment on cooking, just that I have gotten more work done on the blog. Earlier today (like this morning) thought there might be time to get some outside work done, but then the rain came. Yes, you heard right, “rain”. Tried to take my own picture, but after about ten or fifteen shots, there weren’t any worth posting. Karen saw the one I had chosen and offered to take some more. The result is on the left. Now if I could just get the computer to read my mind and put my thoughts here. Sleep well.

Something Is Working

Managed to figure out another part of this “blog” software, and had to go back and re-enter all the files. That created a need to go back in time, since the files are pulled up in calendar and time sequence. Thought about finding some software that would let me change the date/time stamp, but it was just easier to change the computer clock, change the files and change the clock again until I was done. Blog is starting to look much better, now need to work more on the content (LOL). Need to get some work done to make it easier to update this though – will keep you posted. For a little book in The Book, 1 Peter has some gems. This morning, along with everything else, got to verses 8 and 9 in chapter 4 and the words “love for one another” and “hospitality”. Kind of hard to push the “love” thing aside when those were the words of Jesus – and He went beyond talking to Christians – He brought it down to my neighbor. Hospitality kind of catches us up in our perception of being an entertainer, when that is not what the word is about. One commentator says “hospitality centers on the guest, not the host.” It’s doing for the other person – meeting their needs should be the primary concern. I like this from the Life Application Study Bible – “Don’t hesitate to offer hospitality just because you are too tired, too busy or not wealthy enough to entertain.”
