Getting Ready…

Tonight is the computer class, and actually have everything ready except the classroom. Need to get some things put away that I have been working on in the garage. Been moving things around to get to what needed working on (was that a good sentence?). Now have that to clean up. I am having a blast teaching the homeschool kids about computer stuff. This semester, it is an introduction to web page design (more like building or creating a page). Dealing with Jr. and Sr. high schoolers isn’t so bad. Besides, they are having fun, and so am I.Last night, got to thinking about what Peter said yesterday in chapter 2, and remembered a song that I sang in church in 1976. It wasn’t even a “Christian” song, but it’s message was loud and clear – “Freedom ain’t a state like Maine or Virginia. Freedom ain’t across some county line. Freedom is a flame that burns within ya. Freedom’s in the state…of mind.” If we believe that we have been set free, then we need to act like it. Jesus came to set us free, and we need to grab hold of that fact and live free.He continues in chapter 3, and I especially like verse 9 where we are reminded that Jesus is very patient. He waits for us, not because of what we bring, but to give us the freedom He promised. Look back over chapters 1 and 2. Peter reminds us that what he has promised he will deliver, for He (God) cannot deny Himself.

Neat Package and An “Oops!”

Got back to 2 Peter, and found that chapter 2 is a super chapter. He continues in the end of the chapter making comparisons between false teachers and life. I like his “they are springs without water” in verse 17. Makes me think of someone lost in the desert seeing a mirage and running to an oasis that isn’t there. They draw in their “victims” with words that sound great, but have no truth to them. The “freedom” they teach only leads to slavery.I got so caught up in checking out the reference in verse 19, that an “oops” happened. Was going to Romans 6:14, which reminds us that we are under “grace, not the law” – we have been set “free indeed”. Mistakenly, my pen (controlled by my hand) wrote “Rom 8:14” beside the verse. No erasing here, since it was a real pen. So, I went to check out what it says, and found “all who are led by the Spirit…are sons of God.” Amazing…think about it…we can allow outselves to be led by false teachers who take us backwards (and into slavery/captivity), or we can be led by God’s Spirit. It’s out choice whether we walk in the light or the dark. I am going back and read that chapter again – get some pointers on how to avoid those waterless springs that pop up.

Mid-Week again…

Here it is, the middle of the week, and I feel like there are some things being left undone (already). The “To Do List” does not seem to be getting any shorter. It’s like everyday, there are more things to add than take off. On top of the things that actually get added, there are the things that get done just because they need doing. Oh well, some things are off the list, and that’s a good thing.Got a blurb from Newsmax.com that the IRS is investigating Barack Obama’s church (not that I am a great fan of the man) for his speech in a church meeting – he may have said something political and he was running for office.Give me a break! Everytime Hillary or Bill speak in a church, their speech gets aired and “minuted” to death on TV. They definitely say something political, and you don’t hear about those churches being investigated. Seems that any time some people speak in a church, the church gets threatened by the IRS. Interesting turn of events here.
