The Life and Times of Joe Suttle

Go Figure!

Interesting article today in one of the computer “trade” papers about Windows Vista. You can find the article here. Vista is not something I want here yet – too many horror stories about problems or difficulties getting things done. Some of you know that for the past several years my computers have used OS/2 for an operating system. Started that when Windows was a baby (3.0) and did not work well. This year, I finally converted my computer to XP simply because of all the things I wanted to do that OS/2 couldn’t quite do or do well, like graphics, music (for my IPod), digital photos, PDA/phone sync, etc. However, my web server still runs under OS/2 because of it’s reliability. Not quite ready to jump to Mac, Linux or Windows Server/Exchange.

The Approaching Storm

Got started on 2 Peter 1, and immediately noticed that the writer sounded like giving instructions to someone building a wall. Especially in 5-8. You take faith to moral excellence to knowledge then self-control to perseverance to godliness to brotherly kindness then love. He says that if these things or qualities are mine (yours) and are growing or increasing, then we are not “useless”. That sense of usefulness or uselessness has to do with the true knowledge of Jesus. You can’t have knowledge if you don’t study or attempt to learn!

Peter was talking to Christians who were falling prey to false teachers and were under great persecution by the Romans. Even before reading any thing else about these verses, it was clear to me that he was not advocating some steps to being a Christian – he was saying “now that you have this new life, work on all these things.” This was not head knowledge, but action – “while you practice (do) these things, you won’t stumble.” Check it out!

Supernatural Sunday

The rain is raining…” Kinda a takeoff of another song, but it’s true. Steady rain, and this is supposed to be the beginning of a major water dump tomorrow. Wow! I think the “drought” must be over by now. Just a month ago, we were at over 100% of what was needed, so it looks like more is going to be better. I just want it to stop long enough to get the grass trimmed, the fertilizer and crabgrass/weed killer down and working before it starts up again.

It seemed like everybody was joining “MySpace”, so you can find me there too. Not sure if the blog will move – maybe a different kind of blog. Have to keep those lines of communication open.

Karen had an appointment this morning in San Francisco – just hope that she has a safe drive with all this rain. There used to be times when I absolutely hated driving – days like this were one. Course it was worse when I was driving that little white Chevy Geo. Not much taller than the wheels on an 18-wheeler. At least she has a van, which gets her up higher. To make it worse, the appointment is in downtown S.F. and she gets to drive through all those crazy pedestrians.
